It was built in 1870 in the village of Karahıdır, then home to both Turkish and Bulgarian people and today a neighbourhood of the central district of Kırklareli province. According to information from residents of the Karahıdır neighbourhood, the church was found to lie within a school precinct. Used as a school from 1928 onwards, the church building underwent maintenance and repairs in 1936, 1978 and 2008, and with the addition of annexes and extensions it has entirely lost its original character. Today it looks like nothing more than a reinforced-concrete building.
