Story
A mound formed over three natural rises 500 metres west of Yörüklü in Sungurlu, Çorum, its highest point 25 metres above the fields. The surrounding country is dry and barren; this spot is watered, almost an oasis. The mound was found in 1999 during survey work in the third season of the Hüseyindede excavation, and digging began in 2003 under Tunç Sipahi for the Çorum Museum. Most of what has come out belongs to the Old Hittite period: one room measures 25.5 by 7.5 metres externally, with walls a metre thick. Farming and severe erosion have erased the rest.
