Pınarhisar Kalesi

Editor's Note

It lies within the Pınarhisar district of Kırklareli province. It is a castle believed to have been built in the Byzantine period and repaired during the Ottoman period. The castle sits on a hill that commands the surrounding area, in an undeveloped zone to the north of the town. The curtain walls that once continued down to the town center as an extension of the castle are seen to have been destroyed. On the hill to the north of the town, three towers survive to the present day: two circular and one nearly square, rectangular in plan. It was registered by the decision dated 19.12.2008 and numbered 2253.
