Editor's Note
The main historic structures known to have existed at Sinkoti and surviving today are Sinkoti Castle and the church inside it. The castle was built on a square plan with broken and rubble stone bonded with lime mortar. Heavily damaged both by natural conditions and human hands, Sinkoti Castle has never undergone any restoration. The exact date of its construction is unknown, but on the basis of the watchtower's resemblance to other castles of known date in Tao-Klarjeti, it is possible to date Sinkoti Castle to the 10th–11th centuries.
