Ardanuç is a district and district town of Artvin province. Its name derives from the Georgian Artanuci, and the town is one of the oldest settlements of the historical Klarjeti region. In the Middle Ages it was an important centre of the Georgian Bagrationi dynasty. Lying 39 kilometres from Artvin, the district is known for the dish cağ kebabı.
