The Kucukreisoglu House, located in the Hazara neighbourhood of Sumer village in the Findikli district of Rize, represents a fine example of the wooden-frame-with-stone-infill tradition shaped by the climate, topography and local building materials of the Eastern Black Sea. In the building, the spaces in a timber frame, generally made of durable woods such as chestnut or spruce, were filled with river stones and lime-based mortar to create a wall structure that is both load-bearing and insulating, with the infill surfaces...
