Gazi Süleyman Paşa Mosque (the Old Mosque) stands in the Cami-i Kebir neighbourhood of Safranbolu and is thought to have been built by Gazi Süleyman Paşa of the Candaroğulları. Its exact construction date is unknown, but as the nearby Gazi Süleyman Paşa Madrasa was built in 1322 the mosque is estimated to date from around the same period. Built of rubble stone with mortar, it is believed to have been erected as a church in the Byzantine era and converted into a mosque after the conquest of Safranbolu.
