It was founded in 1950 by Halil İbrahim Kulaç, who was injured while working as a porter in Istanbul in the 1930s and returned to Terme to produce and sell halva, lemonade and ice cream. Having discovered lemon ice cream and offered it to his customers, the establishment is still run by the third and fourth generations of the same family.
