Editor's Note
The Taş Köprü (Stone Bridge), which gives the district its name and is still in use, was thought to have been built in 1366 by Ali Bey, son of Yağmur Bey, in the name of Celaleddin Kötürüm Bayezid. Later research, however, showed that the bridge could not have been built on that date. The earliest source to mention the bridge is Strabo.
