Editor's Note
One of the fountains still in use today is the Çoban Dede Fountain. It stands within Çorlu, in the Reşadiye neighborhood. It was built as a "shepherd's" (çoban) fountain. Its front facade is clad in marble, while the rear is made of cut kefeki stone. The cistern at the back is not as large as those of the Paşa Fountain and the Çukur Fountain. Its inscription is in celi sülüs script. The fountain's inscription consists of two lines. The part bearing the year was written in a separate cartouche beside the inscription.
