An inscription on the corner of the outer wall facing the qibla shows that it was built in the Hijri year 1284 (1868 AD). In the early days of the district, the mosque was known as Camii Cedit (the New Mosque). The original, column-free wooden dome of the square-plan building, decorated with floral motifs and concealed beneath the roof, has survived. To the lower left of the mosque's entrance section is an inscription dated Hijri 891, reused from the Candaroğlu Şemsi Paşa Mosque. The single-minaret mosque has walls of rubble masonry and a tiled roof.
