During salvage excavations carried out between 2008 and 2010 by the Zonguldak Ereğli Museum Directorate in the village of Kadıoğlu, in the Çaycuma district 45 km southeast of Zonguldak, three exceptionally well-preserved, high-quality mosaic panels belonging to a villa rustica complex were uncovered. After the excavations were completed, the mosaics, left in situ, were covered with geotextile, sand and soil to protect them from harsh weather conditions.
