In the old cemetery in the centre of Çengelli village there are numerous gravestones with Ottoman Turkish inscriptions in turban, fez, cylindrical and plain forms, as well as one Janissary gravestone dated AH 1125. The earliest legible gravestone is dated AH 1028, and as far as can be seen the site holds eleven turbaned, four fez-topped, three plain, one cylindrical and one Janissary gravestone. The latest legible gravestone is dated AH 1340. Some of the gravestones are intact, while others have been damaged, broken, toppled or uprooted from their places.
