It lies within the Babaeski district of Kırklareli province. It is said to have previously served as a gasworks building before being converted into a school, and to have been known as the "Yellow School" because its walls were painted with yellow earth pigment. It is also reported to have been called the "Hamidiye Neighborhood School." It is said to have had a three-line repair inscription, now lost, according to which Ahmet İzzet Pasha, while serving as Acting Commander-in-Chief, had the building repaired in 1331 AH (1913).
