Editor's Note
The Cehennemağzı Caves in the Karadeniz Ereğli district of Zonguldak are three former quarries lined side by side; one of them was used as a church in early Christianity after mining was abandoned, and its floor still bears mosaics and apse remains. Despite the name, they are not a natural geological formation, but speleothems have grown inside since mining ended about 2,000 years ago, reaching a considerable size.
