Editor's Note
A monumental tomb, the Kurtbey Tomb Monument stands within Havsa National Sovereignty Park. In his Book of Travels, Evliya Çelebi describes this tomb as a luminous grave without a dome, since it had no dervish lodge. According to one view, those wounded and martyred in the 1361 Battle of Sazlıdere were buried here. Found in poor condition in 1940 by the architect Kemalettin Bey, the tomb was rebuilt with travertine stone and given a marble inscription. References: [1] (2013).
