Editor's Note
The courtyard is entered through three gates, two on the west and one on the east. The upper gate on the west bears a marble inscription written by Abdurrahman Hibri. The inscription states that the mosque was built in 1443 by Murad II and repaired in 1621 by Osman II. Today rectangular in plan and measuring 22 by 19 meters, the mosque originally had a tabhane (hospice). The tabhane rooms were later removed. The mosque was built of rubble stone without bonding timbers. Its original covering is thought to have been a dome.
