Editor's Note
While registered in the name of the Uzunkopru Beautification and Promotion Association, the site was, pursuant to letter no. 86 of the Uzunkopru District Governorate dated 30 June 1994 and the association's resolution no. 14 dated 28 June 1994, donated to the Treasury in the name of the Ministry of National Defense and registered as a martyrs' memorial and cemetery. The memorial was built on 21 July 1995. In addition, a monument was erected on 30 August 1997 in memory of the martyrs, with contributions from the Uzunkopru Service Foundation and local citizens. There are no actual martyrs' graves at the memorial; instead, there are marble cenotaphs made for the martyrs.
