Vakıf Han

Editor's Note

The Vakıf Han, or Gön Han, was built between 1781 and 1782 by Seyyid Hacı Abdullah, son of Hacı Yahya. One of the three-story, open-courtyard examples of Ottoman urban han architecture, the building has a rectangular plan. The han's main entrance is on the south facade of the first floor. Around its open courtyard are arranged a portico and rooms, and there is an iwan on the north facade. On the upper floor of the han's southeast facade stands the Hacı Yahya Mosque, which is entered by a staircase from the south facade.
