The İç Kale (Inner Castle) Mosque was built in 1470, during the reign of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, while his son Prince Abdullah was serving as Governor of Trabzon. The structure was built within the walls of Yukarıhisar (the Inner Castle) and is the first Islamic place of worship in Trabzon. With its near-square plan, flat wooden ceiling (sakıf), and hipped roof, the mosque is in active use today. It is located in Trabzon's Ortahisar district, within the bounds of Yukarıhisar (the Inner Castle), on Şehit Refik Cesur Avenue.
