The Trabzon Tobacco Monopoly Building, whose first phase was built during the reign of Abdülhamid II as an "inhisar rüsumeti" (state monopoly office), was completed in three stages. To the north of this first phase, designed in line with the public buildings plan, lay an open storage area. This open store was turned into an enclosed building through two interventions carried out in 1951 and 1965. Before these changes, the structure reflected the features of the Second National Architecture style.
