Editor's Note
The Garrison Command Building was built in the late 19th century, constructed as a two-story masonry structure of cut stone. Representing a small-scale example of the public buildings of the reign of Abdülhamid II (1876-1908), the structure rests on a nearly square, rectangular plan. A stair hall was later added to the south side of the building, which is covered by a sloping roof. The main facade, facing north, is animated by a right-angled recess at its center, within which is a round-arched main entrance door set between two columns.
