İncirlik Mosque was built in the 17th century in the name of Süleyman Bey, one of the sanjak beys of Trabzon. In its first phase the structure had a hipped roof and a flat wooden ceiling, designed in a plain style free of ornamentation. This first mosque, austere in architectural character, was demolished entirely in 1987 and replaced by a new reinforced-concrete mosque. In the sources, the structure is referred to as "Cami-i Süleyman Bey," and in 1640 it appears in Evliya Çelebi's travel account as standing "west of the Hatuniye Mosque, in Kabak Square."
