Editor's Note
Beşirli Bridge is a single-span stone bridge built in the 18th century. Located over the Beşirli Stream, the structure was built entirely of stone using masonry technique. The bridge stands out for its packsaddle-shaped deck and pointed-arch opening, and is one of the careful examples of the stonework of its era. The arch curve is laid with finely cut stones, and at the springing points there are three scaffolding holes on each side. These openings served to position the scaffolding and formwork used during construction. Structural elements of the bridge such as the cutwater and the heel have not survived to the present day.
