Editor's Note
Oğulkaya Bridge is a single-span, semicircular-arched stone bridge built over the Derecik Stream near the village of Derecik, to the southwest of the Yıldızlı district of Trabzon. According to its inscription, it was completed in 1879 (AH 1314) with contributions from Hacı İsmail Efendi and the active support of the local people. With finer stonework than the region's other bridges, the structure was built using mainly finely dressed tuff stone in the infill-wall technique in its arch, piers, and spandrel walls.
