Originally named TOMTAŞ, the Kayseri Aircraft Factory was Turkey's first aircraft factory, founded in Kayseri in 1926. It closed in 1928 for various reasons, reopened in 1931, and production halted after 1950. It employed about 50 people in its early years, rising to 500-600 after 1935, with a workforce of 888 by 1948.
