Editor's Note
The Seyyid Burhaneddin Cemetery is one of the oldest and best-preserved cemeteries to have survived in Kayseri. Its present area is less than half the size of the original cemetery grounds. This cemetery area begins with the Ali Cafer Kümbet, encompasses the Seyyid Burhaneddin Cemetery, continues with the Air Force Martyrs' Cemetery, the Döner Kümbet, and the Emir Ali Kümbet, and ends at the Kartal locality. The abundance of these tombs and grave structures shows that the area was an important burial zone, especially during the Seljuk period in the 13th century.
