Kömürlük Mektebi

Editor's Note

The Kömürlük School, later the Commerce High School, was built in the same period as Kayseri High School. Made of cut stone, this building was constructed from the same architectural design as the Gazi Paşa School on İstanbul Avenue. Two schools were built in the same period, one in the Çorakçılar Quarter and the other at Kağnı Pazarı; the one at Kağnı Pazarı came to be popularly known as the Kömürlük School. The two buildings differ in some respects in their entrance doors and chimneys.
