The Tosunağa Mansion, built in 1896, stood at Lale Street No. 2 in the old Lala Quarter, which today falls within the Tacettin Veli Quarter. Set on the corner of a residential block east of Kayseri High School and behind the Selahattin Bathhouse, the building was entered through a large courtyard gate opening onto Lale Street. The mansion belonged to the Üstündağ family, one of the wealthy families of the period. According to Alaaddin Üstündağ, his family had purchased the right to use one of the basins in the bathhouse, and this was recorded in the official registers.
