Built in 1675 by Hacı Akkaş, the Yeni Mosque (New Mosque) is a plain example of Ottoman provincial architecture in Kayseri. It is a stone-walled building with a near-square rectangular plan. Renovated in 1962, its reinforced-concrete ceiling is supported by four round columns. The narthex on its northern façade, set on six piers, was later enclosed and incorporated into the interior. The upper-floor gallery is reached by an outside staircase. Its mihrab, minbar, and the marble preaching pulpit adjoining the eastern wall are done in a plain style. The interior receives natural light through large windows below and small ones above; all the windows have segmental arches.
