The Koyun Baba Tomb lies on the slopes of Mount Yılanlı, in a hollow known locally as the "Harami Deresi" (Bandit Valley). Koyun Baba was a Qalandari dervish who lived in the 15th century and was born in Khorasan. His lineage is traced back to the eighth imam, Ali al-Rida. He took the name "Koyun Baba" (Sheep Father) from his actual profession as a shepherd. After a vision, he came to Anatolia, living in Bursa, İnegöl, and finally in Osmancık until his death. There is no historical document indicating that he ever lived in Kayseri.
