The Himmet Dede Mosque was built in 1278, after the death of Himmet Dede, a disciple of Hacı Bayram-ı Veli. On the north façade of this rectangular building is another unit thought to have once served as a primary school (Sıbyan Mektebi). The mosque also contains a rarely encountered "harim" section, a private area off-limits to outsiders. Although the building is plain in terms of decoration today, traces of hand-painted ornament can be seen on the walls of the harim and on the arch spandrels.
