Editor's Note
Location: It stands in the village of Demirkapı, formerly known as Homeze, in the İkizdere district of Rize. History: In terms of inscriptions, the mosque is among the richest examples in the region, bearing eight inscriptions in all: at the outer entrance, on the prayer hall door, on the minbar back panel, and on the preaching pulpit. A three-line Ottoman Turkish inscription carved into the marble above the northeastern entrance reveals that the building was constructed in 1105 AH (1693).
