Editor's Note
The Çiğdemli Bridge is a single-span, pointed-arch stone bridge in the southwest of Trabzon's Düzköy district, on the road to Çiğdemli village, built in 1941 over the Büyükdere, which flows north from the Black Sea Mountains. Built with the fill-wall technique using tuff stone in the arch and piers and mostly basalt in the spandrel walls and fill, its arch was laid with the toothed bonding system characteristic of the Gümüşhane region, making it an important example documenting how this bonding tradition was also reflected in the bridges of the Trabzon area.
