Editor's Note
The mosque is located on Hasan Ali Yücel Avenue in the central Sayfiye quarter of Görele district. According to the thuluth-script inscription above its entrance, the present mosque was built in 1909 (1325 in the Rumi calendar) with contributions from the Görele district governor Abanozzâde Hüseyin Efendi and the people of Görele. From an Ottoman-Turkish document written in 1908 by Reşit Efendizâde Abdulmecit Efendi, it is understood that "the earlier mosque was built by a benefactor named Hasan Ağa and repaired in 1811 by Hacı Osman Kadı, and that he himself was tasked with the construction of the new mosque."
