It was built as a military barracks around 1842-1850, during the reign of Abdülmecid II, the 31st sultan of the Ottoman Empire. According to information obtained from local people, military units carried out the entire construction of the building. Because the terrain was steep and mountainous and had no road, the stones used in building it were carried hand to hand from the Begila Stream at the Gelibolu locality by forming a human chain. Since only human power was used to transport the building materials, the work took more than two years.
