Editor's Note
The Saraydüzü locality is the area where the old Beyler Palace (Saray-ı Atik) once stood. It is now the site of the 15th Infantry Conscript Training Brigade Command Centre. As a sign that princes once governed the state from Amasya, the marble monument erected at Saraydüzü in 1916 in memory of Sultan Bayezid II recalls those splendid days. The inscription on the monument reads: "The pure youth of Sultan Bayezid, son of the Conqueror and esteemed father of Selim, was spent here. It would befit the children of the homeland who made that glorious era worthy to give their lives for this sacred soil."
