Editor's Note
The Künç Bridge is a 12th-century Seljuk structure over the Yeşilırmak in Amasya, linking the Bayezitpaşa and Şamlar quarters. It was built by Sultan Mesud II, or according to some sources by his mother, Hundi Hatun. Made of cut stone and brick, the bridge stands out with its three large piers and arches. On the western sides of the piers are cutwaters that protect the bridge against the water currents. The bridge's name derived from Hundi Hatun, coming over time to be called "Kunç" and "Künç." It is also known as the Kuş Bridge.
