The exact date of the fountain, which bears no inscription, is unknown. Hüseyin Hüsameddin notes that in this quarter Masume Hatun had a lodge, a small mosque and a fountain built in 1516. In addition, at the mouth of this street by the stream, Fatma Hatun, daughter of Muharrem Efendi, had a small mosque and a fountain built in 1544. On the basis of this information, it may be supposed to have been built in the 16th century.
