Editor's Note
According to the inscription above its entrance, this mosque in Maden quarter, Piraziz district, was first built by Gedikalizade Hacı Ahmet Ağa in 1906 (1322 in the Rumi calendar). Built in masonry, the structure has a near-square rectangular plan running north-south. For materials, cut and finely dressed andesite was used at the entrance, the floor and corner mouldings, the window jambs and lintels, the minaret base and the mihrab, while basalt rubble stone was used in the body walls. The rubble-stone surfaces are plastered. The mosque is covered inside by a wooden ceiling and outside by a four-sided hipped roof clad in zinc sheeting.
