The İstiklal Yolu (Independence Road) between Çankırı and Kastamonu was a vital route that linked the interior of Anatolia to the Black Sea during the War of Independence, forming the logistical backbone of the National Struggle. Weapons, ammunition, and military supplies brought by sea to the port of İnebolu were carried along this road through Kastamonu and Çankırı to Ankara, sustaining the continuity and resilience of the fronts.
