İskilip is a district of Çorum Province, situated on the left bank of the River Kızılırmak, about 56 km northeast of the city of Çorum. The area has a long history: it was known as Tarittara in the Hittite period and was later recorded under various names such as İskila, Blocium and Iskelib.
