One of the reserve (redif) barracks built across the country as part of the modernization of the army during the Ottoman period is located in the Iskilip district of Corum. Built of stone over three storeys on a 720-square-meter site in the Meydan neighborhood, the reserve barracks were actively used during the Balkan Wars, the First World War, the Gallipoli campaign, and the War of Independence. It is known that the barracks continued to be used until 1945.
