The most striking feature of the mosque in the village of Sarakmak in the Tosya district of Kastamonu is that not a single nail was used in its construction. The date 1791 appears above the door. There is also a legend connected with its name, Geyikli Camii (the Deer Mosque). At that time, the villagers wished to build a mosque at a spot near the present mosque and gathered their materials there. When they returned the next day, they found that the timbers had been moved to where the mosque now stands, and they said the deer had carried them there.
