The cemetery in Kaynaşlı district, established in 1826 and buried underground over the years, was brought to light through the work of municipal teams. This historic cemetery in the Eskiköy locality, where Muslims who settled in the district centuries ago were buried, was uncovered over two months of work. In a statement to the AA reporter, Kaynaşlı Mayor İsmail Korkmaz said there were about 100 graves in the area. "We heard from the district's elders that there was a cemetery here, and we began our work," said Korkmaz. "First we identified the graves, and then we carried out landscaping."
