Drawing on the account of Nejad Özsoy: according to research carried out in the archives by Prof. Dr. Zeynel Özlü, in 1883 the Cedidiye Mosque was in service with its own 8 shops and 1 foundation building. After serving for many years, the mosque reached the end of its life and was demolished. In its place, on Friday, 5 June 1959, the foundations of today's Cedidiye Mosque were laid with a religious ceremony. The minarets of the rebuilt mosque collapsed in the 1999 earthquake and were replaced with the present ones.
