Editor's Note
Another of the surviving sections of the city's defensive wall is a gate known as the "horse gate," on a narrow road that runs toward the theater near the main road coming from Düzce. The gate has a large lintel made of local limestone. Bearing a depiction of a horse and a Greek inscription, this lintel is a funerary stele that a man of Prusias had made for his mother. From the gate, the city wall extends southeastward and connects to a square-plan tower. The city of Prusias ad Hypium.
