Editor's Note
The history of the ancient city of Prusias ad Hypium, located in Düzce's Konuralp district, reaches back to the 3rd century BC. Konuralp first entered the stage of history under the name Hypios. Built on a hill running from east to west, near the Küçük Melen and Tabak streams and ending on the plain, the town came to be called Kieros after Hypios. The Bithynians, moving against the Mariandyni and the state of Herakleia, captured Kieros east of the Sangarios under their king Prusias I (reigned 230-182 BC).
