In the cemeteries of Adapazarı there are graves bearing the characteristic marks and features of the Ottoman period, the 18th and 19th centuries. These graves are a surviving reflection of Ottoman culture and faith. Gravestones are the historical memory and historical documents of a nation. They are among the most important pieces of evidence showing who lived in a given geography. They are a nation's title deeds, and these graves are all the more important in that they reveal the imprints of Ottoman civilization. On these graves, the sülüs and talik scripts most commonly used in marble inscriptions of the period were employed.
