Editor's Note
According to legend, one day a saint named Sakar Dede happened to come to Adapazarı. As he was crossing Beşköprü over the Sakarya River, he was stopped and asked to pay a toll. Although the saint said he had no money and could not pay, no one would listen. He asked for permission to pass, but not only was he refused, he was also insulted. The dede pointed his hand toward the village of Kirazca and began to recite a prayer. Before he had even finished, the river changed its course and began to flow through another part of the plain that Sakar Dede had pointed to.
